What to Expect
08:00: Meet your driver at the hotel and head to the Uzbek-Tajik border (40 km).
Upon arrival at the border, cross over and meet the Tajikistan team. They will transfer you to Penjikent (approximately 50 km, 30 minutes).
Upon arrival in Penjikent, begin your excursion:
Visit the Sarazm ruins, one of Central Asia’s oldest settlements with a 5500-year history. Sarazm was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2010.
Continue driving to the Seven Lakes:
Travel to Marguzor, known for its seven stunning lakes, each reflecting different colors depending on the sun’s position. These lakes, part of the Fann Mountains, are often too cold for swimming even in summer.
Located on the western edge of the Fann Mountains in the Shing River valley, the seven lakes, except for Hazorchashma, are of dammed origin. Each lake has its own name:
1. Nezhigon (also known as Mizhgon) 2. Soybean
3. Gushor
4. Nofin
5. Hurdak
6. Marguzor
7. Hazorchashma
The elevation difference between the highest and lowest lakes is 692 meters.
Enjoy an easy hike around the lakes.
In the afternoon, cross back into Uzbekistan at the Jartepa border point (takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour). Meet your driver on the Uzbek side (16:30).
Transfer back to your hotel in Samarkand.
End of the tour.
